About Us

If you’ve found your way here, you are family, friend, or someone who was searching on PKD. Welcome to The Lemonade Stand, where we are doing our best to make something palatable out of the lemons we’ve been handed by life.

We’re a happily married couple, living in the delightful East Texas countryside with our SPCA-special dog, coping with the melodrama that surrounds End Stage Renal Disease.

Our Lemonade Tree

In the joys of genetic soup, I got the gene for Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. My father died of complications from the disease at the young age of 63, and this summer I moved into Stage 5 of the disease.

This blog is meant to be an outlet for both of us, to allow us to say the things we’re not always able to give voice to and to think out-loud about where we are and where we are going.

Come sit under the trees and have a glass of lemonade with us.

    Hi,

I just wanted to offer you some words of encouragement. Based on your posts, you sound like a very strong person and, like all of us, you may get frustrated at times. Please remember God is always in the room with you–even when you are angry. Cast all your worries on him and your faith will get you through any obstacle–of that I’m sure.

Doctors can only tell you what is possible based on what they have “practiced” previously, while GOD knows everything is possible.

Keep praying and see how great God is.
